Statues

most of the statues around DC are to remember their presidents
The one with all the horses is for Ulysses S. Grant

They say it's all happening at the zoo...

The National Zoo in Washington DC is truly amazing. They have an incredible amount of animals, and the habitats are awesome. They have lots of animals that have had babies in captivity, from cheetahs, to the newest edition, Tai Shen, the baby panda. He is such a little cutie! The Amazonia exhibit is really cool, when you walk through the upper part, the animals are also just walking around, free to do as they please... I made friends with a little monkey in a tree, he kept turning his head upside-down to look at me. I spent 6 hours walking through the zoo as there are a ton of beautiful walking paths. The nice thing the zoo is that it's free as it's a part of the Smithsonian so anyone can come and walk around, or visit their favorite animal, whenever they want!

Weird creatures...

The capybara.... from South America... and this other one that reminds me of a large mouse crossed with a rabbit...

Here Kitty Kitty!

The caracel, a kitty from Africa... enjoying some sun!

And, the cheetah... there were cubs born at the zoo here in Washington DC... Sleeping on the savanah...

Lions and Tigers and Bears! Oh My!

Okay, so I didn't see any lions this time at the zoo, but I did see a sleeping Tiger, and a Sloth Bear...

Busy as a Beaver!

This guy was so busy!

I want a Hippopotamus for Christmas.... (or Easter, or my birthday)

Pygmy hippopotamus.... TOO CUTE!

and here is a BIG hippopotamus hanging out in his pool... they can hold their breath for 6 minutes!

Baby Panda at the Zoo

Tai Shen really liked to hang out in the tree!

Monkey's stand for honesty

Amazonia... very similar to the Amazon exhibit at the Vancouver Aquarium... however, they have monkeys that are not behind cages... they are free to roam and make fun of all the people that come to the exhibit...

Giraffe's are insincere

Elephants are kindly but they're dumb...

Orangutans are skeptical of changes in their cages...

One of the orangutans took great pleasure in regurgitating his food and wiping it on the window in front of me and then eating it again.... YUCK!

The Big Gala Dinner!

The Dress!

Happy Birthday to Me!

My 31st Birthday

Well... it happened.... I turned 31 this past March. It wasn't nearly as painful as I had anticipated. I actually had a really good time! Lots of good friends and family turned out at the Billy Miner Pub in Maple Ridge to help me celebrate, and celebrate... we did! I had a great time, and thanks to all for showing up!

Good friends to help celebrate
