Every Little Thing They Do Is Magic

Sting's Ass
May 30, 2007 I went to see The Police - My seats were behind the stage, but the view was still great (there is nothing wrong with Sting's ass). This is a photo of the screen that we had... but even without the screen, we still had a great view!

fictionplane - Joe Sumner's band - he plays bass and sounds just like his dad - they were fantastic!

We Won Game 2 and Lost Game 3

This is a photo from tonight's game... which we lost 3-2 in regular time. I chose this photo because it shows an Anaheim player getting is ass handed to him and that made me happy.
One of many great saves of the night. This is from Game 2 which we won in 2nd overtime by a goal from Jeff Cowan. It was a great game, much better than Game 1. Go Canucks Go!

small streets and alleyways

Oddities

This is a medic... they have a specific name which escapes me at the moment... for special occaisions however, they wear long hooded black robes...
The sign by the Duomo

The Boar... rumor has it if you rub his snout, and then put a coin as far back in his mouth as you can, and you let it go and it falls into the grate, you'll come back to Florence. (mine did just that so Florence, here I come)

The Canadian Consulate? We're not sure as we didn't find anything when we followed the sign except for a restaurant...

Ah... Shopping... A girls best friend

cute! another of Jenn's favorite outfits
Jenn's wedding dress
a paper shop... very popular in florence... and filled with the most beautiful things...
I thought I had more florence shopping photos but I was wrong... I think they're all in Rome...

Eating and Drinking in Florence

Jenn's daily gelato fix

I'm sure we bought something in here to nibble on

cappucino at Rivoire in the Piazza della Signoria

Cappucino to go?

Perche no! It means... Why not!
God bless gelato

San Lorenzo and Santa Spirito

Santa Spirito - a little church off a pretty courtyard that we found

San Lorenzo - burial place of the Medici Family

San Lorenzo is located outside the market area. So, we shopped and ate first before going in to see the church

Terrible start to Round 2

We lost Game 1 of Round 2 by a score of 5-1. Terrible. I can't say that I was pleased, however, it was only game 1 and there is a lot more hockey to be played. We're down 3 big D-men, and we're tired from our series against Dallas, however, that is no excuse. Tonight is Game 2, and there is no score yet at the end of the 1st period. Will keep you posted!

Back to the gym

Another quick note... After my weekend away at Wise, I managed to put on all the weight I'd lost since New Years. OUCH! However, within 1 week, I've already lost half of it - eating better and gym and pool 3 times last week. Yippeeee!

We're going to Round 2!

Well, we did it! We booted out the Dallas Stars in Game 7. They managed to tie the series in games 5 and 6, but they were no match for Roberto Luongo and the Vancouver Canucks in Game 7. It was all Vancouver all night! Vancouver tied the game in the 2nd period and then made it 2-1 in the 3rd. 2 more empty net goals and the game was over. Dallas is going golfing :) Wednesday night is Game 1 against Anaheim, so watch for updates.

I swore I'd never...

my girl Chelsea
Melissa S. Voted off tonight

... do this, but I just have to tell you how happy I am that Melissa S. got voted of "The Search for the next Pussycat Doll" tonight. She was such a bitch. She was cocky and arrogant, and really, not all that pretty, and she kept putting down Chelsea (yes, my favorite, she rocks and dayam, if the girl didn't drop 190 lbs to come and try out for this show). So what, Chelsea isn't the best dancer, but the girl can sing, and she picks up the choreography pretty darn quick. What did Melissa S. bring to the table? She's a great dancer, she has some decent vocals, but she had no personality, she brought nothing unique to the competition... and for that Chelsea moves on to the finale and Melissa S. hangs up her boa. God, I love Karma!

Canucks Lead the Series 3 - 1

WOOHOO! Game 5 is coming home to Vancouver on Thursday April 19th! That's when we're going to put Dallas away until next season! We're up, 3-1 in our series and it's getting SO good! Watched the game tonight with my dad. We had some pizza and beer and with the help of the "playoff rainbow" that came out for the 3rd period we won the game without going into overtime for a change... The "playoff rainbow" went away as soon as the game was over... it was rather uncanny, but you know, I don't care how we win, as long as we do!

The Weighting Game...

Just another quick note... I'm pretty much back to where I started after my Easter Weekend debauchery on Wise Island with the girls (photos to come later). And I was doing SO good too! I bought a salad for dinner, and some fruit and am going back to the gym tomorrow night... It's a start right?

The Playoffs

So... I'm here, just had to put in a note that Vancouver now leads it's series against Dallas 2 - 1 with an overtime goal by Taylor Pyatt, his first playoff goal. Yay! Game 3 is such a pivotal game, and can really swing the series towards a definitive winner... in this case? VANCOUVER!!!!! I'm so excited!

It's my party and I'll cry if I want to

So... it's here, my birthday party and wouldn't you know it, I feel like TRASH. ARGH. I got this stupid cold/flu 2 days ago - thought I had it up against the wall, was up 2 rounds to 0. This morning it struck back and as much as I'd like to just go to bed, I can't really cancel my birthday party - I have a lot of good friends who are coming out to see me and celebrate with me. Hopefully I'll be able to hold on to whatever energy I currently have and can make it to at least midnight. I can sleep tomorrow... right?

I'm up, I'm down

No idea where I am this past few weeks. The scale at the Y has been dissing me, so I'm not going to share with you what secret it's told me. It's ugly. Although, not that ugly I suppose... my clothes are still the same, maybe a tad looser. Hard to tell through all the layers I've been wearing since it's been so FRICKEN cold the last few days! I did make it back to Sveta's Step Class last night. God it's hard! She does the most difficult moves, but at least I enjoy myself and laugh lots when I can't do her mambo steps. I have plans to go to the gym tomorrow and back to Cardio Strip on Friday. She keeps making me lead in that class... I don't get it, I'm not a dancer by nature... maybe my inner stripper really is coming out??? Okay gotta run, wanna see the end of the hockey game... can we pull a win out of our asses in St. Louis tonight?????

The Count is On

So... Jan 2, 2007. I was 140.01 lbs with a "body fat percentage" of 38.1. Skip ahead 3 weeks and I've now lost 4 lbs and 2% body fat! Oh My God!!! This stuff really works. My body is sore, I did 5 nights in a row this week (yes, I ended the week with another round of Cardio Strip). Today I went for a walk with my friend Karen :) Beautiful day to exercise. I am really trying to keep this up... So, I'll be back at it starting tomorrow night (no rest of the chubby I suppose).

Will keep you updated!

Not a Resolution, but a Personal Choice

When I began my journey on Tuesday January 2, 2007, I weighed in at 140.1 lbs. Not great. Kinda chubby. According to the BMI (Body Mass Index) test that I took at Fitness World (my first visit) I was labelled "at risk" according to their standards. At risk for obesity. How f**king scary is that! I took them up on their free 1 week pass. Sadly, I didn't make it in as much as I wanted that first week (stupid snow), but I managed to get to Vinces' Step Class on January 3, and another step class on Jan 8 at the Kingsway location plus an extra hour devoted to Cardio Stripping (I'm dead serious on that). Now... that's more than I've done in a long time - yay me! I weighed myself on Thursday January 4. 139.8 lbs. Okay, not bad, I've lost a little bit - woohoo! Didn't make it out much the next week due to snow and "female issues" but by mid-January, I was back in the proverbial saddle! I signed up for a membership at Fitness World (all locations) on Monday January 15 then headed back to Kingsway for some more step (it's like a dance really) as well as Sveta's Cardio Strip class. Again due to snow issues, I failed to make it to Vinces' class again... But, I did make it back to Power Hour Aquafit on the 18th. And, another weigh in. 138.4 lbs. That's almost 2 pounds in as many weeks! I won't know the score until this Thursday, Jan 25, so I'll update you then. I will say though, I made it once again to Step on Monday, and I just got home from Deep Water Aerobics at Eileen Daly pool tonight :)
Wish me luck! And thank you to those that have been extremely supportive, I don't think that I could be THIS motivated without you. And I know that Sean at FW will never read this, but he's a huge motivator to me so thank you to him too. Besides, I like the shit and abuse he dishes out each week.

A Poem About Snow

It snows on the mountains

It snows on the hill

It snows on my driveway

It gives me a chill.

I used to like snow

When I was a child

Now all it does

Is drive me wild.

I can't make a snowman

I don't have the time

I have to shovel

And this makes me whine.

My car it gets stuck,

In the garage

I let out the swear words

In an extreme barrage.

Bleep Bleep Bleep Bleep

Snow fucking bleep.

Sometimes I'm afraid

To go to sleep.

When I wake up

What will I face?

Snow on the driveway

It's such a disgrace.

My tires they spin

They smoke, I don't grin

I put on my boots

And start walking... AGAIN!

I am not a Tundra Princess

Seriously people. This weather, it has to go. The sun, it can stay, but the -10 at night, and the ice and the snow... I'm sooooo done with it! This body is a temple, it belongs in Mexico, near a pool with a "tropical pick me up" in my hand and a hot cabana boy feeding me grapes and fanning me so I'm no longer so "esweaty". I was not made to live in a tundra. If I was, I would have moved to Winnipeg a LONG time ago! Who ever had the great idea to make us vancouverites see what it was like to live in the land of the torontonians.... can bite me. But not too hard, I might shatter!

The Freaks at Doulins

Peter Parker? From Barker? Or was he Parker from Petersborough? Can't remember, but he was a freak who kept licking my hair. ICK. However, I think that I look rather pretty in this photo... and what a cute shirt!
Maverick wearing my glasses. I have to admit, he wasn't as much of a freak as his friend "Goose" who was a complete Germaphobe who tried to proposition Shannen. UGH!

A night at the Met and a dance at Doulins

Shannen
me, looking demure...

Mariana doing a belly dance... the envelope please...

and our bed for the night... SAWEEET

A small treat for us... strawberries, biscotti and chocolate for dipping, and a bottle of "champers"... mmmm bubbly good

Martha's Dinner Party

Yes, that's correct. I had a dinner party for 8! Spaghetti, Salad by Mariana, bread and LOTS of wonderful red wine. Some enjoyed that a little more than others. It was a great night with friends and family.
